General Description:

Field Techs are general laborer that load and unload equipment for the job, setup and breakdown
equipment, vacuum hoses, hydroblast hoses, or any other systems and processes for the job, as well
as performing daily manual labor in an industrial setting as defined below.

Typical Duties Include (But are not limited to):

  • Loading equipment and materials for the job.
  • Unloading equipment and materials upon arrival to the job.
  • Re-loading equipment and materials upon completion of the job.
  • Sets up vacuum hose and waterblast hose as directed.
  • Performs confined space entry in tanks, pits, or other confined spaces when needed.
  • Inspects, uses, and maintains various personal protection equipment including chemical
    protective suits, respiratory protection equipment, safety harnesses, and air monitoring
    equipment.
  • Uses various manual tools and equipment to affect industrial cleaning operations (i.e.,
    shovels, scrapers, rakes, squeegies, etc.)
  • Manually cleans, mucks out and de-sludges various industrial systems, including paint pits,
    eliminators, dip tanks, process tanks, lagoons, etc.
  • Adhere to quality and safety requirements while on the job.
  • Performs yard, shop, equipment maintenance, and housekeeping duties as directed.
  • Any indicated site-specific responsibilities.

General Description:

Loads, drives, sets-up, and operates various operational equipment and waste
hauling vehicles as directed based on operational needs.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities Include (But are not limited to):

  • Loads and prepares equipment for upcoming jobs and unloads equipment upon arrival on the job.
  • Sets up and operates Waterblasting equipment, vacuum trucks, and high-pressure sewer cleaning
    equipment.
  • Sets up and operates Vacuum trucks.
  • Sets up and operates high pressure sewer cleaning equipment.
  • Performs confined space entry in tanks, pits, trenches, and others which may include climbing,
    standing and working in awkward positions.
  • Inspects, uses, and maintains various personal protection equipment including chemical protective
    suits, respiratory protection equipment, safety harnesses, and air monitoring equipment.
  • Perform and document daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections on vehicles and equipment in
    accordance with FMCSR guidelines and company policy.
  • Check all load related paperwork prior to movement of load to ensure completeness and accuracy
    including, manifests, bill of lading, land disposal restriction forms.
    Performs yard, shop, equipment maintenance, and housekeeping duties as directed.

Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Abrasive blast and apply paint/coatings on bridges and overpasses. 
  • Working knowledge of coatings application work. 
  • Operate various power tools in accordance with company safety policies. 
  • Prepare, operate and inspect blast equipment and spray pumps. 
  • Ensure enough onsite material is available for the day’s operation. 
  • Ensure Spray Pump Operator is aware of mixing procedures for the particular coating being used. 
  • Understand and adhere to company safety policies and procedures. 
  • Adjust to work-related demands without becoming frustrated. 
  • Demonstrate willingness for continuous self-improvement. 
  • Persist at difficult tasks despite unexpected obstacles.

  • Ability to erect and dismantle scaffolds 
  • Ability to work at heights or in confined space 

Skills and Experience required: 

  • Previous spray and blast experience on bridges, overpasses, tanks or water towers 
  • Familiar with the operating and safety procedures for plural component spray units, airless pumps 
  • Strong team and customer service. 
  • Must be a member in good standing with Painters Union or be willing to join the Painters Union 

Industrial blasting and painting education and training preferred:

  • SSPC CAS, SSPC Competent Person, Safway Scaffold Quikdeck Certification are a plus 
  • Aerial work platform, standard first aid, fall protection. 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Frequent standing and walking throughout the shift. 
  • Frequent climbing, stooping, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and twisting. 
  • Required to lift up to 100 pounds. 
  • Must be able to wear a full-face respirator for extended periods. 
  • May be required to work in extremely tight spaces or on elevated platforms. 
  • Must be able to pass Pre-Employment Drug Screen 
  • Must be willing to work out of town for extended periods.
